The South West ADEPT Rights of Way Managers Group considers matters relating to countryside access and takes a particular interest in public rights of way issues. It is one of seven regional groups which report back to a national ADEPT working group of highway authority rights of way managers, LGA, Natural England, CCW, Defra and the Institute for Public Rights of Way Management. As well as formulating responses to policy papers produced by other organisations and seeking to influencing change, the RoWMWG has its own programme of research on issues relating to public rights of way. Each regional group seeks to produce, on a regular basis, reports or comment on a particular topic of relevance to the management of public rights of way.
Current workload focuses on radical changes to legislation and guidance, greater integration of highway management systems, heath and economic benefits of countryside access, and the impacts of changes to environmental stewardship schemes
