SOUTH WEST TRANSPORT DATA GROUP

Page under construction
Next Meeting:  All meetings postponed due to Covid-19 precautions
Picture
The South West Transport Data group was initially set up during the mid 1990s to compare data collection methods, equipment, techniques and software used to analyse traffic data within the South West. The remit of the group subsequently expanded to cover discussions on the monitoring of Local Transport Plans and the Regional Planning process. More recently, the group has shifted focus to examine the opportunities for developing common standards and undertaking collaborative procurements. It is open to all local highway authorities in the South West Region. Most authorities regularly attend the meetings, which are held at six monthly intervals.

The current agreed terms of reference for the group are:
  1. An interchange of ideas and experience of the procedures and processes for traffic and travel data collection and analysis with a view to developing standards to be used throughout the Region.

  2. To review new developments and techniques for collecting and analysing traffic and travel data including testing of software and instigating trials of automatic equipment.

  3. To share experience on the development and monitoring of Local Transport Plan and Regional Transport Plan targets and Indicators.

  4. To review and discuss national policy developments and new guidance that may impact on the role of traffic and travel data collection.
